About Us

Welcome to Nova Nafs Counselling

Nova Nafs represents both new beginnings and a deeper connection to the self.

Nova” symbolizes growth, transformation, and the beautiful province of Nova Scotia, where this practice is based.

Nafs,” the Arabic term for the self or soul, reflects the journey of self-discovery, healing, and alignment with one’s true values.

Our practice is a space dedicated to providing compassionate and holistic support to individuals and couples navigating life’s challenges and changes. Whether you’re dealing with trauma, adjusting to a new culture, or seeking guidance in personal or relational growth, I understand that life’s transitions can bring up complex emotions. I am here to support you, whatever your background or life situation may be.

about me

Perry Sami, MACP

Registered Counselling Therapist-Candidate (RCT-C)

Taking a step towards therapy can be a difficult and vulnerable step, especially when you’re dealing with burnout, overwhelming emotions, or life transitions like moving to a new country or managing a significant life change. I understand that navigating these challenges can leave you feeling uncertain, and it’s okay to seek support.

I am a Registered Counselling Therapist-Candidate with a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology, a life coaching certification, and an international Bachelor of Pharmacy degree. I bring a holistic approach to therapy, understanding the deep connection between physical health and emotional well-being. This perspective helps me support clients dealing with both health challenges and emotional stress.

At Nova Nafs Counselling, we will explore your experiences together, developing effective strategies that focus on what matters most to you. I offer compassionate, evidence-based care that integrates various therapeutic modalities tailored to your needs. These include:

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
  • Narrative Therapy
  • Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT)
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
  • The Gottman Method

My approach to therapy is rooted in cultural sensitivity and humanistic values. Whether you’re navigating trauma, facing life transitions, or managing emotional stress, I will create a safe, inclusive space where you can explore your journey and work together towards meaningful change. Therapy is available in both English and Arabic, offering a flexible environment where you feel comfortable and understood throughout our work together.

I work with individuals aged 18 and older from diverse backgrounds, and I am registered to practice in Nova Scotia. My goal is to offer a supportive, inclusive environment where you feel seen, heard, and empowered to take charge of your personal growth and well-being.
